Residents of Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, fled their homes in panic early Monday following two explosions and sustained gunfire during a coordinated attack by Boko Haram terrorists on areas around Dala, Bulamari, and Ajilari-Cross in Konduga.
According to sources, the attack began around 12:35 a.m. at Ajilari-Cross when insurgents opened fire, prompting a swift response from joint security agencies, including the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Police Force.
The sounds of gunfire and explosions threw residents into confusion and forced many to flee their homes in search of safety.

A source near Dala confirmed that military personnel instructed hundreds of residents to evacuate the area. “As I am speaking, people have fled from their homes for their safety, but calm has now been restored in Maiduguri after troops successfully repelled the terrorist attack,” the source said.
Nahum Daso, spokesperson for the Borno State Police Command, confirmed the incident, stating that police operatives had moved to the scene. “Yes, there is a suspected terrorist attack at Ajilari Cross. I am currently on my way to the scene. I will give you details later,” he said.
Simultaneously, Nigerian troops repelled an attack by the group in the Damboa Local Government Area in the southern part of the state, highlighting the coordinated nature of the assaults.
Security agencies have since regained control of the affected areas, and operations to ensure residents’ safety continue.
