Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State says the performance of his administration and his servant-leadership style will secure his re-election in the Aug. 15 governorship election in the state.
Adeleke made the remark on Wednesday while hosting members of the Ansarudeen Society of Nigeria at the Government House in Osogbo.
The governor said his administration’s achievements across key sectors, including the economy, education, sports, health and agriculture, would guarantee victory at the polls.
“When the opposition asked whether I deserve to be re-elected, I told them yes, based on my performance in this first term in office,” Adeleke said.

He noted that his government had adhered strictly to due process, maintained procurement regulations in project execution and ensured equitable distribution of infrastructure across the state.
According to him, his administration has also implemented merit-based recruitment of teachers despite financial constraints and ensured prudent management of state resources through verifiable projects and programmes.
The governor added that his re-election campaign would be anchored on an upgraded five-point agenda focused on integrated welfare and empowerment for youths, women and workers.
He said the agenda would also prioritise infrastructure consolidation to boost social and economic well-being, as well as agro-industrial expansion to promote human development and shared prosperity.
Adeleke further listed affordable and quality healthcare, improved access to education and a more secure business environment for job creation as key priorities for his next term.
Calling for support, the governor urged the Islamic group to pray for a peaceful and credible election.
“Today marks the starting point of campaigning for the governorship election. We need your prayers and support for a free and fair election through which the will of the people will prevail,” he said.
Earlier, the Secretary of the society in the state, Hafiz Akande, commended Adeleke for what he described as an outstanding performance in governance, saying it was unprecedented in the history of the state.
Akande, however, appealed to the governor to support the construction of a new mosque in Iwo, which he said was affected by a road dualisation project.
