The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has launched a sharp attack on former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, describing him as a “political nomad” following his reported exit from the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Onanuga made the remarks on Sunday via his official X handle, reacting to Obi’s announcement that he had left the ADC over internal crises and what he described as a toxic political environment.

Obi, who joined the ADC earlier this year, said his decision to quit the party was not driven by personal disagreements with its leaders, including former Senate President David Mark and ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar, whom he said he continues to respect.

He also blamed the worsening internal disputes within the party and wider political interference, insisting his departure was based on principle rather than personal ambition or conflict.

But Onanuga dismissed Obi’s explanation, accusing him of hiding behind excuses and avoiding political competition.

“We told you so. The political nomad is on the move again. Ignore all those puerile reasons he gave in these illogical musings, a self-serving letter to his mob,” he wrote.

He further described the former Anambra State governor as “a politician made of jelly” and an “opportunistic fellow,” alleging that Obi avoids tough political battles.

“Peter Obi is a politician made of jelly, an opportunistic fellow. He can’t fight Atiku or Amaechi for the ticket of ADC. He pursues the easy road, that will only lead him to doom, like in 2023,” Onanuga added.

He also criticised Obi for frequently blaming the government, urging him instead to reflect on his own political decisions, while welcoming him into the build-up to the 2027 general elections.
