The Ogun State Police Command has intensified its enforcement drive under Operation “No Traffic Gridlock,” impounding six vehicles and removing illegal structures obstructing major roads in Sango-Ota and Ijebu-Ode.
The operation, carried out on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, targeted key traffic corridors notorious for congestion.
The statement was signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi.
In the Sango Ota axis, police operatives conducted coordinated night and early morning operations to dismantle shanties and illegal structures encroaching on road setbacks.
The enforcement, led by the Area Commander, also saw the clearance of major obstruction points and the impoundment of six vehicles found violating traffic regulations.
Police said the intervention has already led to improved traffic flow in the area, with continuous monitoring in place to sustain compliance.
Similarly, in the Ijebu Ode Toll Gate corridor, authorities carried out operations targeting indiscriminate parking of heavy-duty trucks and roadside trading along the highway.

The exercise resulted in the removal of truck build-ups and other obstructions, significantly easing vehicular movement in the area.
The police command warned that illegal parking, roadside trading and obstruction of highways would not be tolerated, stressing that violators would be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
It reiterated its commitment to sustaining the operation until seamless traffic flow is achieved across affected areas.
Residents were urged to support the initiative by reporting traffic violations through the command’s emergency lines.
