Ikeja LG chairman hosts Immigration officer, seeks stronger security collaboration

The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government Area, Akeem Olalekan Dauda, on Monday received the Divisional Immigration Officer (DIO) of the area, O.S. Akintola, during a courtesy visit at Ikeja House.

The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration between the local government and the Nigeria Immigration Service, particularly in the areas of security, border intelligence and community engagement.

Speaking during the visit, Dauda commended the Immigration Service for its role in safeguarding national borders and maintaining internal security through effective migration management.

He stressed the need for closer synergy between local government authorities and security agencies to address emerging security challenges at the grassroots level.

The chairman reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies operating within the council area, noting that peace and safety remain critical to sustainable development and residents’ well-being.

In his remarks, Akintola thanked the chairman for the reception and praised the leadership of the local government, assuring continued cooperation from the Immigration Service in enhancing security and intelligence sharing within the area.
