Oando PLC says its joint venture with NNPC E&P Limited has commenced gas delivery to a newly developed 60-megawatt independent power project in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
The company disclosed this in a statement dated April 16, 2026, noting that the development follows the inauguration of the gas-fired power plant located in Elebele, Ogbia Local Government Area by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on April 10.
According to Oando, the joint venture plays a central role in ensuring the operational viability of the plant through a dedicated gas supply infrastructure designed to support steady power generation.
It stated that the NEPL/Oando JV is the sole gas supplier to the facility, delivering a contracted volume of 11.2 million standard cubic feet per day (11.2 MMSCFD) through the Elebele Valve Station connected to a major trunkline, ensuring uninterrupted gas flow to the independent power plant.
Group Chief Executive of Oando, Wale Tinubu, said the project would significantly improve electricity reliability and stimulate economic activity in Bayelsa State.
He noted that improved power supply would help unlock business opportunities, raise living standards, and drive broader economic growth across the state.

The 60MW facility is expected to supply more stable electricity to tens of thousands of homes and businesses in Yenagoa and surrounding communities, addressing long-standing power shortages in the oil-rich region.
Oando explained that the project operates as an integrated system combining gas supply, embedded generation, and a dedicated distribution network to ensure efficient delivery of electricity to end users.
The company also highlighted its role in providing engineering design for the gas infrastructure and technical support during commissioning, as part of its broader strategy to expand participation in Nigeria’s gas-to-power value chain.
