Governor Dapo Abiodun on Thursday inaugurated the 5.5-kilometre Elega–Miliki–Saje–Bode-Olude road in Abeokuta, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development and economic growth.
Speaking at the event, the governor said the road project, which cuts across Abeokuta North and Abeokuta South local government areas, was part of ongoing efforts to improve connectivity and stimulate economic activities in the state.
He noted that the newly commissioned Elega-Saje corridor had already begun to impact the area positively by enhancing mobility and boosting commercial activities, particularly during nighttime.
To further support businesses and improve security along the route, Abiodun disclosed that solar-powered streetlights would soon be installed.
Reiterating his administration’s infrastructure drive, the governor revealed that no fewer than 26 roads are ready for commissioning, with plans to inaugurate at least one project weekly in the coming months.
He also cited ongoing projects such as the Car Wash–Adatan road, which is nearing completion, as further evidence of his government’s resolve to deliver on its development agenda.
On tourism, Abiodun highlighted the transformation of the Olumo Rock Tourist Centre, stating that the refurbished and concessioned facility is now attracting international attention, including interest from the city of Milan for possible collaboration.
According to him, the centre’s revenue has increased significantly from about N3 million annually to approximately N10 million weekly.

The governor added that a peaceful political environment remains critical for sustainable socio-economic development, noting that his administration has maintained stability while executing key projects.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Ade Akinsanya, said the road would further boost economic activities in the area and urged residents to take ownership of the infrastructure.
Also speaking, the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Adedotun Gbadebo, commended the governor for prioritising durable infrastructure and driving positive transformation across the state.
