The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has unveiled special train service arrangements across its corridors to accommodate increased passenger traffic during the Easter holiday period.
NRC’s Chief Public Relations Officer, Callistus Unyimadu made the announcement on Tuesday in Lagos.
For the Lagos-Ibadan Train Service (LITS), three additional trips are scheduled on Thursday, April 2, to meet the anticipated surge in passengers. Departures from Mobolaji Johnson Station, Ebute-Metta, Lagos, are set for 7:45 a.m., 1:40 p.m., and 4:00 p.m., while trains from Obafemi Awolowo Station, Moniya, Ibadan, will leave at 8:00 a.m., 10:50 a.m., and 4:30 p.m.
The NRC will also operate a special train on the narrow gauge corridor under a partnership with the Osun State Government, allowing passengers to travel free of charge.
The service departs Iddo Station, Lagos, on Friday, April 3, at 10:00 a.m. for Osogbo, returning on April 6 at the same time.
On the Abuja-Kaduna Train Service (AKTS), regular schedules will continue with two trips on Thursdays and three trips on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays, covering morning, mid-day, and afternoon services between Idu and Rigasa.
For the Warri-Itakpe Train Service (WITS), services operate daily except Thursdays, which are reserved for maintenance.
Departures from Warri to Itakpe are scheduled for Sundays, Tuesdays, and Fridays at 8:00 a.m., while return trips from Itakpe to Warri run on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays at 12:00 noon.

On the Eastern narrow gauge corridor, the Port Harcourt-Aba Train Service will maintain its usual schedule, with departures from Port Harcourt at 8:00 a.m. and return trips from Aba at 3:00 p.m.
Unyimadu reassured passengers of the NRC’s commitment to safe, reliable, and efficient rail transport across all corridors. He urged travelers to plan journeys in advance, arrive early at stations, and comply with ticketing and security procedures.
“The corporation wishes all passengers a peaceful and enjoyable Easter celebration and encourages the public to continue patronising rail transport as a safe and dependable means of travel,” he added.
