The Kogi State Executive Council has ratified a series of strategic infrastructure projects while reaffirming progress in security and aligning with the Renewed Hope Agenda of Bola Ahmed Tinubu to accelerate development across the state.
The decisions were reached at the council’s meeting held on Monday in Lokoja, presided over by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.
Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, said the council expressed satisfaction with the improving security situation following sustained interventions by the administration.
He noted that the government would consolidate the gains recorded, with a focus on ensuring lasting peace and safeguarding lives and property across the state.
The council also reiterated its commitment to leveraging economic opportunities embedded in the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, with Governor Ododo urging public officials to translate national policies into tangible improvements in citizens’ living standards.
A key highlight of the meeting was the ratification of the construction of a dual carriageway leading to the Kogi International Airport.
The project was awarded to China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation and is expected to enhance connectivity and boost cargo operations at the facility.
In addition, the council approved contracts for critical components of the airport project, including the main infrastructure and perimeter fencing.
While CCECC will handle core construction works, Gamji Nigeria Company Limited will execute the fencing.
The council stressed adherence to global best practices, particularly given the technical standards required in the aviation sector.

Members were also briefed on progress at the Kogi State Innovation Hub, a project aimed at positioning the state as a centre for technological advancement and digital enterprise.
The initiative is expected to create opportunities for youth in innovation, research, and entrepreneurship.
Officials added that the hub would also serve as a non-kinetic strategy for crime reduction by productively engaging young people.
The council reaffirmed the Ododo administration’s commitment to impactful governance, with emphasis on infrastructure development, improved security, and inclusive economic growth.
