Vice-President Kashim Shettima has vowed that perpetrators of the recent bomb attacks in Maiduguri will be decisively confronted, reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to ending terrorism.
Shettima made the declaration on Wednesday during a visit to victims receiving treatment at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital following the deadly explosions that rocked the city earlier in the week.
The vice-president said his visit was to sympathise with the injured and families affected by the tragedy, while also conveying the government’s resolve to bring those responsible to justice.
“We will not relent in our efforts to defeat terrorism,” he said, noting that beyond directives issued by the President to security chiefs, the government has continued to invest heavily in equipment and logistics to strengthen security operations nationwide.

Shettima condemned the multiple explosions that occurred on Monday, describing the attacks as barbaric and unjustifiable. According to reports, more than 100 people were affected, with over 20 confirmed dead.
He assured victims and their families of sustained government support, adding that assistance would be provided through the National Emergency Management Agency, the North East Development Commission, and the Borno State Government.
Shettima was accompanied on the visit by the Deputy Governor of Borno State, Usman Kadafur, alongside the Director-General of NEMA, Zubaida Umar.
Also present were the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Ahmed Ahijo, and other senior government officials.
The latest attack underscores ongoing security challenges in Nigeria’s North-East, even as authorities intensify efforts to restore peace and stability in the region.
