The Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, has pledged strict enforcement of electronic payment systems across airports nationwide as part of efforts to eliminate revenue leakages and improve transparency.
Kuku made the commitment while speaking to journalists after appearing before the House of Representatives Committee on Finance to account for revenues generated by the authority between 2023 and 2025.

She explained that FAAN had deployed comprehensive mechanisms to ensure that all airport revenues, particularly at toll gates and other collection points are efficiently captured, transparently processed, and fully remitted to the Federal Government.
According to her, the move aligns with the Federal Government’s fiscal reform agenda aimed at plugging leakages, strengthening accountability, and boosting internally generated revenue across ministries, departments, and agencies.
“This initiative is about accountability and sustainability. We are ensuring every kobo due to the Federal Government is collected without leakages,” Kuku said.
She urged airport users to obtain the required electronic payment tools before arriving at airports to facilitate seamless transactions and support the new system.
“The ultimate goal is improved service delivery, better infrastructure, and a transparent system that works for everyone,” she added.

Providing details of FAAN’s revenue performance, Kuku disclosed that the authority generated N387.8 billion in 2024 and collected N344.6 billion as of December 31, representing 104.4 per cent revenue performance and 88.87 per cent collection performance, respectively.
She noted that N128.8 billion was deducted at source as remittance to the Consolidated Revenue Fund, while the balance was used to fund operational and capital projects.
For 2025, FAAN had an approved revenue budget of N551.2 billion. As of December 31, the authority generated N483.1 billion and collected N428.8 billion, representing 87.65 per cent and 88.76 per cent performance, respectively. During the year, N150.6 billion was deducted at source as Consolidated Revenue Fund remittance.
Chairman of the committee, James Faleke, directed FAAN to submit all supporting documents relating to revenue generation and remittances for further legislative scrutiny.
