The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) on Tuesday pledged continued support to the Association of Corporate Communication and Marketing Professionals in Banks (ACAMB) as part of efforts to accelerate Nigeria’s economic growth.
CIBN President, Pius Olarenwaju, made the pledge when ACAMB executives and members of its Board of Trustees paid a courtesy visit to the institute’s chamber in Victoria Island, Lagos State.Stakeholders back CBN interest rate cut to 26.50%
Olarenwaju commended ACAMB for its collaboration with CIBN, particularly in the area of information and reputation management, noting that the partnership had significantly raised standards across the banking sector.
“ACAMB’s support has given CIBN and the banking sector brand equity,” he said, praising the association’s track record in shaping narratives and managing reputational issues within the industry.
He recalled ACAMB’s role in addressing crises in the sector, describing the relationship between both bodies as strategic and mutually beneficial.
“Sticking together in the financial services ecosystem is helping us build Nigeria’s economy,” Olarenwaju stated.
The CIBN president also pledged the institute’s support for ACAMB’s 30th anniversary celebration scheduled for September 2026, as well as its Annual General Meeting and other programmes, including fundraising initiatives.CBN cuts interest rate to 26.5% in policy shift after prolonged tightening
He promised backing for the association’s capability development and undergraduate mentorship schemes.
Olarenwaju further assured that the entrance of ACAMB’s secretariat at Bankers House would receive a facelift, citing ongoing renovation works in the building.
Earlier, ACAMB President, Jide Sipe, expressed appreciation to CIBN for its continued guidance and support.
He outlined the association’s programmes and rebranding vision, stressing the importance of integrating banking operations with corporate communications to strengthen the industry.
Speaking with journalists after the meeting, Sipe said ACAMB was expanding its scope and intensifying preparations for its 30th anniversary celebration.
He explained that the association was blending the experience of its founding members with youthful innovation to ensure sustainable growth.
Reviewing ACAMB’s 30-year journey, Sipe highlighted its achievements and future projections, describing the body as a key gatekeeper in shaping policy narratives and communicating banking issues nationwide.
“The collaboration between CIBN and ACAMB cannot be underestimated. That synergy is very strong,” he said.
According to him, since banking drives Nigeria’s economy, negative perceptions about banks could undermine national growth.
“As they create policies for professionalism, we shape narratives and project a positive image for Nigerian banking,” Sipe added.
Chairman of ACAMB’s Board of Trustees, Tunde Lemo, also commended Olarenwaju for his personal commitment to the association. Lemo, a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, urged CIBN to encourage stronger support from banks for ACAMB’s initiatives.
