President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja on Thursday for Makkah, Saudi Arabia, to perform Umrah, an Islamic pilgrimage involving spiritual devotion and prayers.
The President’s trip will also feature the commissioning of equipment acquired by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) before his departure from the country.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Tinubu will undertake the spiritual exercise in Makkah, where he is expected to pray for Nigeria’s peace, unity, stability and continued progress.
During the visit, the President will perform the religious rites associated with Umrah and seek Allah’s guidance and blessings for the country and its citizens.

Before leaving Abuja, Tinubu is scheduled to commission equipment acquired by the Nigerian Air Force at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
The commissioning will precede his departure for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The statement did not provide details about the equipment to be commissioned or its operational capabilities.
Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria next week after completing the religious exercise.
Umrah is an Islamic pilgrimage to Makkah that can be performed at various times of the year, unlike Hajj, which takes place during a specified period in the Islamic calendar.
The trip combines the President’s planned religious observance with an official engagement involving the Nigerian Air Force.
