President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday evening hosted an interfaith breaking of the fast with Nigeria’s State Governors, bringing together Muslim and Christian leaders as the country observes Ramadan and Lent.

He commended Governors for their ongoing outreach efforts during the holy season but challenged them to do more for those at the grassroots, particularly young people, women bearing heavy responsibilities, and underserved communities.

“Development must not recognise religion. Compassion must not recognise tribe. Opportunity must not recognise status,” the President said, stressing that collective efforts are needed to deliver hope to all citizens.

On national security, President Tinubu reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening safety across the country, announcing plans to establish state police to empower states in protecting their citizens.

“This is not about politics. It is about practicality. It is about empowering states with the tools to protect their people while strengthening our national framework,” he said.PENGASSAN rejects Tinubu’s Executive Order on NNPC remittances

He reiterated that security is foundational for prosperity, noting that without safety, farms cannot flourish, businesses cannot grow, and families cannot sleep in peace.

The President concluded with a call for unity and bold reforms, asserting, “Nigeria will be safer. Nigeria will be stronger. And together, we must commit to making it so. Nigeria First.”

The interfaith gathering highlighted Nigeria’s religious diversity while underscoring the Federal Government’s focus on development, security, and inclusion during this sacred season.
