Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria has emerged as the leading Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) financial adviser in West Africa by deal value, reinforcing its position in the region’s corporate finance landscape.
The bank announced the achievement in a statement issued on Wednesday by its Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand and Marketing, Ms Joke Adu.
According to the statement, the bank secured the top position in the M&A financial adviser category by deal value at the DealMakers Africa Annual Gala Awards held in Lagos, outperforming several global and regional institutions.
The recognition highlights the bank’s strong execution capabilities and growing influence in West Africa’s dealmaking space.
The awards event brought together leading dealmakers, advisory firms, and key stakeholders to celebrate excellence in mergers and acquisitions and related advisory services over the past year.
Reacting to the recognition, Yemisi Deji-Bejide, Managing Director and Head of Mergers and Acquisitions, Africa, described the award as a reflection of the bank’s commitment to delivering value across the region.
“We are thrilled to be recognised as the number one M&A Financial Advisor (by Deal Value 2025) in West Africa… This achievement reflects our vibrant and active M&A practice in the region and underscores Standard Chartered’s commitment to Africa,” she said.
Deji-Bejide added that the recognition also celebrates the dedication of the bank’s team and their role in driving its success in complex financial transactions.
The bank noted that the ranking reflects its continued investment in strengthening regional expertise and its ability to support clients through high-value and intricate deals across multiple sectors.

It further emphasised that the recognition underscores its strategic role in facilitating major transactions and delivering advisory services across West Africa.
The DealMakers Africa Awards, first introduced in South Africa in 2000 and expanded across the continent in 2008, are widely regarded as a benchmark for excellence in financial advisory services.
Organisers stated that most award categories are determined using objective metrics such as transaction size and volume, while others are assessed based on execution complexity, impact, and value creation.
