Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has directed security agencies to track down and prosecute those responsible for the vandalism of the Festac-Alakija Bridge.
The governor condemned the incident, describing the vandalism of critical infrastructure as “barbaric and criminal” and warning that Lagos State would not tolerate attacks on public facilities.
Sanwo-Olu said officials from the Office of Infrastructure had inspected the bridge and confirmed that its structural integrity remained intact, while remedial works would commence immediately to protect the bridge’s columns.
“Lagos will not tolerate any act of vandalism because it is barbaric and criminal,” the governor said.
He vowed that anyone found culpable in the incident would face the full weight of the law, describing the attack as “horrendous, shameful and condemnable.”

“Lagos has no place for such barbarism and acts of violence against our critical infrastructure and other facilities,” Sanwo-Olu added.
The governor also urged residents to remain vigilant and help protect public infrastructure by reporting suspicious activities around government facilities.
The state government said the immediate remedial intervention is aimed at safeguarding the bridge while efforts are intensified to apprehend those responsible for the vandalism.
