Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has met with security chiefs in the state to review ongoing operations and strengthen the state’s security arrangements ahead of the end-of-year festivities and other major activities.

The meeting, held on Tuesday at the State House, Marina, focused on the current security situation in Lagos and measures to further strengthen the state’s security architecture ahead of an expected influx of visitors during the Yuletide. The meeting also comes as Lagos prepares to host President Bola Tinubu.

Sanwo-Olu assured residents and visitors that his administration remained committed to protecting lives and property and preventing criminal activities across the state.

“We will not relent on our efforts to ensure that criminals don’t find a place for their evil activities in our state,” the governor said.

The security chiefs briefed the governor on ongoing operations across Lagos and measures being considered to enhance public safety in the coming months.

Also present were the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Tayo Ayinde; Secretary to the State Government, Abimbola Hundeyin; and Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Lawal Pedro.

The security meeting was held as Lagos prepared to receive President Tinubu, with several official engagements expected during his stay in the state.

The state is also preparing for increased movement and commercial activity during the Yuletide, when a significant number of visitors are expected to travel to Lagos.

Beyond the festive period, the government is anticipating increased religious, cultural and political activities as preparations for the 2027 general elections intensify.

The security review therefore brings together federal and state security agencies as well as other stakeholders to coordinate measures aimed at maintaining public safety across Lagos.
