Skyway Aviation Handling Company PLC (SAHCO) recently hosted its partners, clients, and stakeholders to a special Ramadan Iftar lecture and dinner aimed at strengthening relationships within the aviation industry while promoting the values of faith, discipline, and ethical conduct.
The event, held at the Lagos Marriott Hotel Ikeja, brought together airline representatives, handling agents, government regulators, aviation professionals, and other industry stakeholders who work closely with the ground handling company.
The gathering provided a platform for reflection, networking, and discussions on the importance of ethical business practices, especially within the aviation sector where professionalism, trust, and safety are critical.

In her opening remarks, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of SAHCO, Adenike Aboderin, welcomed guests and thanked them on behalf of the company’s Chairman, Taiwo Afolabi, for honouring the invitation.
Aboderin said the company strongly believes in faith, inclusiveness, and mutual respect among people of different religious backgrounds, adding that SAHCO remains committed to fostering an environment where diversity is respected and celebrated.
According to her, the holy month of Ramadan encourages reflection, sacrifice, compassion, and discipline values that are equally important in the corporate world.
She noted that such gatherings help strengthen relationships among partners and stakeholders while encouraging ethical conduct and professionalism across the aviation industry.
The event featured two lectures delivered by Islamic scholars who highlighted the spiritual and ethical significance of Ramadan and its relevance to professional life.
The first lecture was delivered by Tajudeen Olalekan Yusuf, who spoke on the topic “Ramadan as a School of Spiritual Discipline, Economic Justice, and Ethical Business Transformation.”
Yusuf explained that the discipline of fasting goes beyond abstaining from food and drink, emphasizing that Ramadan teaches self-control, fairness, compassion, and accountability.
He urged organisations and individuals to apply these values in their professional dealings, noting that transparency and justice in business would help build a more ethical and sustainable corporate environment.
The second lecture was delivered by Ibrahim Tirmidhee, Imam of the Aviation Workers Central Masjid located at the headquarters of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) in Ikeja.
Speaking on the theme “From Ramadan to the Workplace: The Role of Taqwa in Ensuring Ethical Practices in the Aviation Industry, Airport Operations, and Cargo Businesses,” Tirmidhee highlighted the importance of Taqwa, or God-consciousness, in guiding the actions of individuals both in their personal lives and at work.
He stressed that when workers carry the values of Ramadan into their professional duties, it fosters integrity, accountability, and dedication to duty qualities essential in an industry that depends heavily on safety and trust.
The lectures were followed by an Iftar dinner where guests broke their fast together in an atmosphere of unity and goodwill.
The gathering also provided an opportunity for networking and strengthening partnerships among aviation stakeholders.
The event was attended by SAHCO directors, management staff, airline representatives, aviation regulators, government agencies, and other industry partners.
Participants commended SAHCO for organising the event and for promoting initiatives that encourage ethical values, inclusiveness, and collaboration within Nigeria’s aviation community.
