The Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dayo Mobereola, has commended women for their significant contributions to the growth and development of Nigeria’s maritime sector.
This was disclosed in statement issued by the Head of Public Relations at NIMASA, Osagie Edward.
Mobereola gave the commendation in a goodwill message issued to mark the 2026 International Women’s Day, themed “Give to Gain.”

He said women in the maritime industry had continued to demonstrate strength, professionalism and resilience, contributing immensely to progress, innovation and sustainable growth in the sector.
“I celebrate your strength, expertise, and invaluable contributions to our maritime industry,” he said.
According to the NIMASA boss, the theme “Give to Gain” reflects the daily impact of women across various segments of the maritime industry.
“Through your professionalism, leadership and resilience across sea-going, regulatory, technical and administrative roles, you give excellence and our sector gains progress, innovation and sustainable growth,” Mobereola added.
He further praised the dedication and commitment of women working in the maritime space, reiterating his commitment to fostering an industry where women are empowered to lead and thrive.

Mobereola noted that the global observance of International Women’s Day provides an opportunity to highlight the challenges women face while advocating gender equity across all sectors.
This year’s theme, “Give to Gain,” focuses on investing in women through access to resources, education and mentorship in order to build a stronger and more equitable society.
According to him, empowering women brings collective benefits, as economies, communities and workplaces grow when women are given the opportunity to thrive.
