The Ogun State Police Command has dismissed allegations of professional misconduct raised by the Safer Society for Children (SSC) Foundation and the Elegant Nurses Forum (ENF), insisting that its handling of a reported rape case in Ijebu-Ode met required standards of professionalism and due process.
In a statement issued on March 22, 2026, by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, the Command said the investigation into the incident was conducted with “the highest level of professionalism at every stage.”
The response follows a petition titled “Urgent Petition to All Well-Meaning Nigerians,” in which the groups accused the police of failing to protect the victim and subjecting her to further harm and humiliation.
However, the Command refuted the claims, stressing that the victim’s safety, dignity, and rights were prioritized throughout the investigative process.
It added that all necessary procedures, including medical examinations, evidence gathering, and proper documentation, were strictly followed.
According to the statement, four suspects, Kalu Prosper, Oche Destiny, Adamu Paul, and Adewusi Qudus have already been charged to court, with the judiciary now handling the matter to ensure justice is served.
Despite rejecting the allegations, the Commissioner of Police in the state has ordered a separate investigation into the claims contained in the petition.

The Command said it remains open to credible and verifiable information and will take decisive action if any wrongdoing is established.
“The Command remains committed to transparency and accountability,” the statement said, urging members of the public to come forward with useful information that could aid the ongoing review.
It assured that updates on both the case and the internal probe would be communicated as developments unfold, reiterating its commitment to justice, victim protection, and sustaining public trust in the Nigeria Police Force.
