The Olubadan, Oba Rashidi Ladoja has dismissed allegations linking him to a purported plot to remove Governor Seyi Makinde from office, describing the claims as false and misleading.
In a statement issued by his media aide, Adeola Oloko, the monarch cautioned against dragging the revered Olubadan stool into partisan politics.
Oba Ladoja said it was illogical to suggest that a traditional ruler could have the constitutional authority to unseat a sitting governor, stressing that such claims undermine both the traditional institution and Nigeria’s democratic framework.
He noted that even at the grassroots level, a traditional ruler lacks the power to remove an elected local government chairman, let alone a state governor.

The monarch reiterated his commitment to upholding the integrity of the traditional institution and urged political actors in Oyo State to refrain from involving the throne in political controversies.
He emphasised the need to respect the boundary between traditional leadership and partisan politics, warning that attempts to politicise the monarchy could erode public trust in the institution.
