Nigeria LNG Limited has called for strengthened security collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force to safeguard the ongoing ₦200 billion Bonny-Bodo Road project in Rivers State.
The 37.9-kilometre road, which is about 80 per cent complete, will connect Bonny Island to the mainland and is regarded as a key infrastructure project for economic growth.
The Managing Director of NLNG, Adeleye Falade, made the appeal during a meeting with the Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, Olugbenga Adepoju, held at the company’s headquarters in Port Harcourt.
According to a statement issued by NLNG’s spokesperson, Anne-Marie Palmer-Ikuku, Falade emphasised the need for proactive security measures ahead of the project’s completion and inauguration.
“On completion, the Bonny-Bodo Road will reshape access to Bonny Island and create new opportunities for the people of Rivers State,” he said.
He noted that improved access to Bonny Island would require enhanced security planning to protect lives, property, and critical infrastructure.
Falade also commended the police for their role in securing strategic assets, particularly the ongoing NLNG Train 7 project, which is nearing completion, describing the command as professional and disciplined.

In his response, Adepoju reaffirmed the commitment of the police to strengthening collaboration with NLNG, describing the company as a vital asset to Rivers State and Nigeria’s economy.
“NLNG remains a pride of Rivers State and a key pillar of Nigeria’s economy,” he said, assuring that police teams are prepared to respond swiftly to any security threats.
Bonny Island remains a major oil and gas hub in Nigeria, hosting liquefied natural gas facilities and serving as a key production point for Bonny Light crude.
