The Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) has congratulated Muslim faithful and waterways users in Lagos State on the celebration of Eid-el-Adha, while urging strict compliance with safety regulations during the festive period.

In a statement issued by its Corporate Communications Department, the authority advised commuters and boat operators to prioritise safety, especially amid the ongoing rainy season which poses additional risks on inland waterways.

LASWA specifically cautioned against night travel, citing reduced visibility and adverse weather conditions that could endanger safe navigation on the waterways.

The agency urged passengers to plan trips during daylight hours, remain vigilant, and comply with all operational safety procedures.

“Navigate with utmost caution, follow all operational safety guidelines, do not exceed the speed limit, and check weather conditions before every trip.

Never compromise safety, as it is a shared responsibility,” the statement read.
The authority also reiterated that the use of life jackets by all passengers and crew members throughout every journey remains mandatory.

Special Adviser on Blue Economy to the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Oluwadamilola Emmanuel, while congratulating Muslims on the Eid-el-Adha celebration, reaffirmed LASWA’s commitment to ensuring safer, secure and efficient waterways transportation across the state.
