The Federal Government has fulfilled another major promise to Nigeria’s Super Falcons by presenting each member of the squad with the keys to a three-bedroom apartment ahead of the team’s opening match at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
The symbolic presentation was conducted on Tuesday in Rabat by officials of the National Sports Commission (NSC) and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), following the payment of the $100,000 cash reward earlier approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu after Nigeria’s triumph at the 2025 WAFCON.
According to the Nigeria Football Federation, NSC Chairman Shehu Dikko and NFF General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi presented the housing allocation documents to the players as they prepared to begin the defence of their African title.
The housing reward forms part of the Federal Government’s incentive package announced after the Super Falcons’ continental success, which also includes national honours and similar benefits for members of the team’s technical crew.
The three-bedroom apartments are located within the Renewed Hope Housing Estate scheme and were initially scheduled to be presented shortly after the team’s victory at the 2025 WAFCON. However, the exercise was delayed due to administrative processes.
Explaining the decision, Dikko said the presentation was postponed until the players assembled in Morocco to ensure all beneficiaries received their keys together before the tournament.
“I am leaving Glasgow for Morocco this week to present keys to the houses, which His Excellency, President Bola Tinubu, promised the Super Falcons after they won the last edition of the WAFCON. Even their $100,000 has been paid into their various bank accounts.

“We decided to delay the presentation of the keys because we wanted a situation whereby the players would be together. I am sure it will boost their morale ahead of the 2026 WAFCON, which kicks off in Morocco in a few days,” he said.
Dikko also confirmed that all the promised cash rewards had been fully processed and paid after the completion of the necessary administrative procedures.
The Super Falcons entered the 2026 WAFCON as defending champions and Africa’s most successful women’s national team, chasing a record-extending 11th continental title.
Nigeria opened its Group C campaign against Malawi, with additional group-stage fixtures scheduled against Zambia and Egypt.
The tournament, which runs from July 26 to August 16 in Morocco, also serves as Africa’s qualification tournament for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
The four semi-finalists will qualify automatically, while another team will have the opportunity to secure a place through the intercontinental play-offs.
