The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), has called for deeper collaboration between the council and the Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) to enhance effective parking management and service delivery within Ikeja.
AKOD made the call on Tuesday while receiving the General Manager of LASPA, Mrs. Adebisi Adelabu, during a courtesy visit to his Ikeja House office.
Mrs. Adelabu, who led a delegation of senior management staff of the agency, said the visit was aimed at strengthening institutional ties, familiarising LASPA with local government operations, and exploring areas of strategic partnership to improve parking regulation and enforcement.
She also highlighted operational challenges facing the agency in Ikeja and sought the cooperation of the local council in addressing them to improve efficiency in parking administration.
In his response, AKOD commended the LASPA leadership for its commitment to its mandate and assured the agency of Ikeja Local Government’s readiness to support initiatives that promote orderliness and efficient service delivery.
He further stressed the importance of youth engagement, urging LASPA to consider creating employment opportunities for young people within Ikeja as part of efforts to tackle operational challenges and reduce unemployment.
The LASPA delegation included senior officials such as the Head of Human Resources, Ms. Mariam Adeboyejo; Head of Monitoring and Enforcement, Mr. Aladeyemi Adeoba; Head of Operations, Mr. Adegorioye Abiru; and Head of Public Affairs, Mr. Divine Dunkwu, among others.

AKOD was joined by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Abisola Omisore; the Secretary to the Local Government, Prince Adeyinka Illo; Council Manager, Mrs. Juliana Taiwo Odubeko; and other senior council officials.
The meeting ended with both parties reaffirming their commitment to improved traffic and parking management, institutional cooperation, and sustainable development in Ikeja.
