The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved approximately ₦631.3 billion for nine road infrastructure projects across Nigeria as the Federal Government intensifies efforts to improve road connectivity and transportation.

The Minister of Works, David Umahi, disclosed this after Wednesday’s FEC meeting presided over by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the State House, Abuja.

Among the major approvals are ₦209 billion for the 81.1-kilometre Ado–Ilawe–Ilumaba–Ikole Road in Ekiti State, ₦167 billion for the 95-kilometre Etuke–Okene–Ankpa–Otopa Road in Kogi State, and ₦89.2 billion for the Bichi Ring Road in Kano State.

The council also approved road projects covering Adamawa and Taraba states, remedial works on the East–West Road and rehabilitation of the Sokoto–Illela Road.

The approvals are expected to support road infrastructure development across several regions, although implementation timelines and project-specific details were not provided in the announcement.

The Ado–Ilawe–Ilumaba–Ikole Road in Ekiti State received one of the largest allocations, with ₦209 billion approved for the 81.1-kilometre route.

In Kogi State, the council approved ₦167 billion for the 95-kilometre Etuke–Okene–Ankpa–Otopa Road.
