The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared that it is confident of defeating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 presidential election if the poll is conducted freely and fairly.
National Publicity Secretary of the ADC, Bolaji Abdullahi, stated this during an interview on the Naija Unfiltered Podcast, while discussing the opposition party’s preparations and prospects ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Abdullahi said the party remained confident despite the number of opposition groups seeking to challenge the APC, stressing that the credibility of the electoral process would be critical to determining the outcome.
“Yes, we believe so. In a free and fair election, we have no doubt in my mind that we win this election,” he said.
However, the ADC spokesman expressed concern over the possibility of electoral manipulation, saying the party was putting mechanisms in place to protect its votes at polling units and during the collation process.
“The challenge is: Will there be a fair and fair election. We are ready for that. We are ready for anything,” Abdullahi said.
He alleged that the APC could attempt to manipulate the 2027 election and said ADC supporters would closely monitor the voting and collation of results.
“If you are dealing with these APC people, you have to be ready for anything quickly because we know that they want to steal the election. We will police our vote,” he alleged.
Abdullahi also referred to comments attributed to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, concerning the Osun State governorship election.
The ADC spokesman said Wike’s reported claim that he could have delivered Osun State for the APC if he had been present raised questions about attempts to influence electoral outcomes.
“What does that mean? That regardless of what the Osun people think, you have a way to deliver it. That’s confession,” Abdullahi said.

He further alleged that the APC’s reliance on threats demonstrated that the ruling party had lost popular support among Nigerians.
“We know Nigerians have abandoned them. They know Nigerians have abandoned them, and that’s why they are threatening everybody,” he said.
The ADC publicity secretary said the party’s 2027 strategy would therefore focus not only on securing votes but also on ensuring that votes cast for its candidates were properly recorded, transmitted and protected throughout the electoral process.
He maintained that a credible election would enable Nigerians to freely determine their preferred leaders without undue interference.
