Troops conducting air support operations under Operation FANSAN YANMA have reportedly neutralised several suspected terrorists following a precision airstrike on a hideout in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
According to security sources cited by security analyst Zagazola Makama, the operation was carried out on Monday at about 5:10 p.m. after intelligence reports indicated the movement of suspected terrorists within the Kidandan axis of the local government area.
Makama disclosed in a post on his official X handle on Tuesday that an aerial surveillance platform was deployed to conduct an intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance mission over the area.

During the operation, the surveillance team reportedly detected four suspected terrorists travelling on motorcycles and placed them under continuous monitoring.
The report added that two additional motorcycles were later intercepted along a route believed to be leading to a terrorist gathering point within the area.
The monitored movement subsequently led security operatives to a suspected terrorist hideout located on elevated terrain within the operational area of Giwa Local Government Area.
According to the report, the aerial platform maintained surveillance over the location to confirm activities before carrying out a precision strike on the target.
“The aerial platform maintained surveillance over the location before a precision strike was carried out on the target, resulting in the neutralisation of several suspected terrorists, while others fled in disarray,” Makama quoted the source as saying.

The operation forms part of ongoing military efforts under Operation FANSAN YANMA aimed at dismantling terrorist networks, disrupting their movements and degrading their operational capabilities across the North-West region.
As of the time of filing this report, military authorities had yet to issue an official statement on the outcome of the operation.
However, security analysts believe sustained aerial surveillance and intelligence-led operations remain critical to ongoing counter-terrorism efforts in Kaduna State and other parts of the region facing security challenges.
