President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a minor reshuffle of the Federal Executive Council, leading to the exit of the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, and the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa.
The development was disclosed in a memo signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, outlining key changes in the composition of the Federal Executive Council.
According to the memo, Mr. Edun has been directed to formally hand over duties as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy to Taiwo Oyedele, who has now been appointed to assume the role. Oyedele previously served as Minister of State in the ministry.
In the Housing and Urban Development Ministry, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa is also to hand over responsibilities to the Minister of State in the ministry. In his place, Dr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma has been named ministerial nominee and minister-designate for the ministry.
The directive further stated that all handing over and taking over processes must be completed on or before the close of business on April 23, 2026.

Explaining the President’s decision, Akume said the reshuffle was intended to strengthen cohesion, improve synergy in governance, and enhance service delivery under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
He added that the President acted within his constitutional powers as provided under Sections 147 and 148 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), and expressed appreciation to the outgoing ministers for their service to the nation.
The Presidency also assured that the process of cabinet reinvigoration would remain continuous as part of ongoing efforts to improve governance performance.
