The Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) has reinforced its commitment to community development and corporate social responsibility by donating a specialized, adjustable dental chair to the dental unit of General Hospital, Apapa, Lagos.
The donation, presented by a delegation led by the Director of the Special Duties Department on behalf of the Council’s Executive Secretary/CEO, Dr. Akutah Pius, MON, aims to enhance oral healthcare services and patient comfort.
Speaking during the presentation, the Director emphasized the Council’s dedication to initiatives that improve the well-being of Nigerians. He highlighted that access to quality healthcare is a vital aspect of sustainable community development and that the Council takes pride in strengthening medical infrastructure in host communities.
The new dental chair is designed to provide comfort for patients while improving the efficiency and effectiveness of dental procedures. Its adjustable and specialized features are expected to reduce procedural strain for practitioners and enhance the treatment experience for patients.
Receiving the equipment, the Medical Director/CEO of General Hospital, Apapa, Dr. Lateefat Omolara Agbaje, expressed profound appreciation, describing the gesture as timely.
She noted that the donation will strengthen the hospital’s dental unit, expand treatment capacity, and reduce waiting times for residents of Apapa and surrounding areas.
This initiative underscores the NSC’s ongoing commitment to impactful corporate social responsibility, demonstrating that its mandate in the maritime sector extends beyond regulation to fostering sustainable community development and social investment.
