The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will on October 19, 2026, convene key stakeholders in Nigeria’s capital market for its National Capital Market Conference, where the Nigerian Capital Market Master Plan 2.0 (NCMMP 2.0) and the National Savings Scheme will be unveiled.
The conference, scheduled to hold at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, is expected to focus on strategies for deepening the capital market, strengthening domestic resource mobilisation and expanding investment opportunities for Nigerians.
The event will bring together stakeholders from the public and private sectors to deliberate on measures to increase investor participation and enhance the contribution of the capital market to sustainable economic growth and national development.
Vice-President Kashim Shettima will serve as the Special Guest of Honour, while the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, will be the Chief Host.
The Director-General of the SEC, Dr Emomotimi Agama, will host the conference.
Speaking on the significance of the conference, Agama described the NCMMP 2.0 as a 10-year strategic framework designed to guide the growth and development of Nigeria’s capital market.
According to him, the master plan will provide a framework for tracking and measuring progress in the market while setting strategic priorities for its long-term development.
He added that the endorsement of Vice-President Shettima would be important to the successful implementation of the plan.
The master plan is expected to form part of broader efforts to position the capital market as a stronger source of long-term financing for businesses and the Nigerian economy.
The National Savings Scheme is another major initiative to be launched at the conference, with the SEC describing it as a tool for promoting financial inclusion and encouraging Nigerians across different income groups to develop a savings and investment culture.
Agama said the scheme would provide Nigerians with opportunities to save and invest for the future, adding that tax incentives would be introduced to encourage participation.
“The National Savings Scheme is principally an inclusion tool: every Nigerian is given the opportunity to save, and those savings will be invested for the future,” he said.

According to the SEC DG, the initiative aligns with the Federal Government’s fiscal policy direction, including tax relief measures targeted at citizens earning below a specified income threshold.
Other activities lined up for the conference include the presentation of reports by the Capital Market Committee Technical Working Groups.
The NCMMP 2.0 Project Steering Committee and the Capital Market Master Plan Implementation Committee will also be inaugurated during the event.
The SEC said the conference is part of its broader efforts to deepen Nigeria’s capital market, improve participation and strengthen its role in mobilising long-term domestic capital for economic development.
The commission is also expected to use the platform to advance discussions on policies and initiatives capable of improving investor participation, expanding financial inclusion and increasing the market’s contribution to national development.
