Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested four suspected cultists in connection with assault, armed robbery, and unlawful possession of a firearm in Ilaro area of the state.
This was stated in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, on Monday, in Abeokuta.
The suspects—Samson John (25), Olufowora Michael (28), Odeh Samuel Ejeh (25), and Olajide Jeremiah (28)—were apprehended by officers attached to the Ilaro Division following a complaint lodged at the station on April 16, 2026.
According to the police, the complainant reported that at about 1:00 p.m. on the same day, Samson John, accompanied by six others still at large, invaded his residence, assaulted him, threatened him with an axe, and dispossessed him of his mobile phone, an iPhone 14 Pro Max.
A swift response by the operatives led to the arrest of the four suspects. Items recovered during the operation include a locally made pistol, an axe, suspected charms, and the stolen phone.
The suspects are currently in police custody, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang. The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their prompt response and professionalism, reiterating the command’s zero tolerance for cultism and other violent crimes.
He assured residents that all criminal elements would be decisively dealt with and urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through the command’s emergency lines.
