The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the forthcoming Osun gubernatorial election, Bola Oyebamiji, has pledged to reinstate no fewer than 2,000 teachers and health workers allegedly disengaged by the state government if elected.
Oyebamiji made the commitment in a statement issued on Sunday in Lagos after meeting with over 1,500 teachers and 515 health workers who said they were affected by the 2022 disengagement exercise in Osun State.
He described the action as “unfortunate and unjust,” arguing that the affected workers had served the state diligently before losing their jobs without salaries, arrears, or job security.
According to him, no responsible government should abandon qualified professionals who are willing to serve.
Oyebamiji further noted that such decisions weaken trust in public service and negatively affect morale in critical sectors such as education and healthcare.

He assured the affected workers that his administration would prioritise their reinstatement, as well as address outstanding salary arrears and promotion entitlements.
“Under our administration, their concerns will be treated with fairness, compassion and sincerity. We will ensure their return to work, settle their outstanding arrears and restore dignity to the public service,” he said.
The APC candidate maintained that Osun State deserves leadership that values workers as key partners in development, adding that his administration would focus on rebuilding confidence between government and public servants under the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
