The Ogun State Police Command has warned residents against unlawful assembly and violent protests, declaring that such actions will be met with the full force of the law as part of ongoing security operations in Sagamu.
This was disclosed during a press briefing delivered by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, at the Sagamu Divisional Headquarters.
The briefing highlighted sustained security operations under “Operation Keep Sagamu Safe,” an intelligence-driven initiative aimed at restoring and maintaining peace in Sagamu and surrounding communities.
According to the Command, a disturbance occurred on April 7, 2026, when a group of commercial motorcyclists allegedly blocked the Oba Erinwole GRA Road, disrupting movement and public order.
The situation reportedly escalated to other government facilities, including the Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO), TRACE office in Sotubo, and the Sotubo Health Centre.
Police said ten suspects linked to the incident were arrested, charged to court, and their confessions aided further intelligence-led operations.
Subsequently, on April 13, 2026, a coordinated multi-agency operation led to the arrest of 146 suspects in identified criminal flashpoints across Sagamu.

The operation involved the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Amotekun Corps, the So-Safe Corps, and the Vigilante Group of Nigeria.
The police said all suspects are undergoing screening, with those found culpable to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Abeokuta for prosecution.
The Command reiterated that while citizens have the right to express grievances, such actions must remain within legal boundaries. It warned that blocking roads, attacking public institutions, or engaging in self-help would not be tolerated.
The Commissioner of Police commended the cooperation of the Sagamu Local Government, traditional rulers, and community stakeholders, describing their support as critical to the success of ongoing security operations.
Residents were urged to remain law-abiding and report suspicious activities through designated emergency hotlines provided by the Command, as authorities pledged to sustain intelligence-led policing to ensure lasting peace in the area.
