The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has inaugurated its newly approved Conditions of Service (CoS) as part of efforts to enhance staff welfare and improve operational effectiveness.
Director-General of the bureau, Alex Badeh Jr., disclosed this during the inauguration ceremony held on Friday in Abuja, noting that the new framework would also strengthen safety outcomes across Nigeria’s transportation sectors.
According to Badeh, the revised CoS represents a major milestone in aligning the agency’s operations with global best practices in accident investigation while reinforcing institutional efficiency.
“The document is a collective covenant that goes beyond administrative rules to define the rights, responsibilities, and professional expectations of all personnel within the agency,” he said.
He explained that the development is part of broader reforms under the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whose Renewed Hope Agenda has repositioned the bureau to report directly to the Presidency—an arrangement expected to strengthen its operational independence.
Badeh added that the new Conditions of Service provide structured frameworks for career progression, including appointments, promotions, and training opportunities, alongside transparent disciplinary procedures.

He noted that the package also includes comprehensive welfare provisions such as leave entitlements, medical services, allowances, and performance-based incentives.
“The Conditions of Service guarantees that diligence, integrity, and commitment will be recognised and rewarded. It aims to foster a unified and highly disciplined workforce capable of meeting international standards,” he said.
The NSIB boss urged staff members and union leaders to study and fully internalise the provisions of the new CoS, which takes immediate effect, as part of efforts to build a more motivated and efficient organisation.
