Dr Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has formally joined the race for the 2027 Lagos State governorship election after purchasing the Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Lagos4Lagos Movement leader disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday in Lagos through his spokesperson, Gbenga Ogunleye, signalling his intention to contest under the ruling party’s platform.
His entry into the race comes amid growing endorsements for the incumbent Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, who has reportedly secured backing from Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and key party stakeholders as a preferred consensus candidate.
Adediran said his decision to obtain the nomination forms reflects his commitment to party rules and democratic principles.
“This step reflects my disciplined adherence to the party’s established processes and my unwavering belief in the internal democratic mechanisms of the APC,” he said.
He threw his weight behind the adoption of direct primaries, describing it as a pathway to strengthening internal democracy and broadening participation within the party.
“I reiterate my full alignment with the party’s official position on the adoption of direct primaries for all elective offices. I am confident that this approach will further deepen participatory democracy and give every member a sense of ownership,” he added.
The aspirant also reaffirmed his loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC leadership at both national and state levels.
“I reaffirm my profound respect, loyalty, and unwavering commitment to the National Leader of the APC and President Bola Tinubu,” he said.

Adediran expressed appreciation to party leaders and supporters for their backing while acknowledging the right of others to support rival aspirants, noting that “such diversity of opinion remains a hallmark of a vibrant and democratic political party.”
He also commended members of the JAGABAN–JANDOR 2027 Movement and other supporters for contributing towards the purchase of the nomination forms, describing their support as a demonstration of confidence in his leadership.
“My aspiration remains anchored on unity, inclusiveness, and the continuous pursuit of excellence in governance under the banner of the APC,” he said.
His declaration sets the stage for what is shaping up to be a competitive contest within the APC ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Lagos State.
