The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to enhanced security collaboration with the Anambra State Government ahead of the state’s second term inauguration.
The IGP, represented by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the South East Zone, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, paid a courtesy visit to Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo at the Government House in Awka on March 18, 2026.
During the visit, Soludo congratulated the IGP and the DIG on their appointments, describing their emergence as timely given the need for stronger security collaboration to sustain peace and economic growth in the state.

The governor stressed the importance of sustained synergy between the Nigeria Police Force and the state government, assuring continued support for efforts aimed at strengthening the security architecture and improving public safety across Anambra.
He also called for police involvement in ensuring a peaceful resolution of ongoing traditional leadership disputes in the state, particularly in Awka, as a panel of inquiry concludes its findings.
Responding, Onwuemelie conveyed the appreciation of the IGP for the warm reception and reiterated the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to deepening strategic partnerships with the state government and other security stakeholders to safeguard lives and property.
The DIG was accompanied by the Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Ikioye Orutugu.
The visit highlights ongoing efforts by the police to strengthen collaboration with the Anambra State Government in promoting lasting peace, security, and public safety across the state and the wider South-East region.
