The Federal Government has reaffirmed that all Federal Unity Colleges nationwide will resume academic activities on Monday, September 14, 2026, assuring students, parents and school administrators that adequate security arrangements have been put in place for a safe and seamless resumption.

The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, gave the assurance in a statement, saying the safety and wellbeing of students and staff remained a priority of the Federal Government.

Alausa said relevant security agencies had been duly informed of the resumption plans and were maintaining heightened vigilance around the Federal Unity Colleges and their immediate environments.

According to him, the coordinated security measures are aimed at protecting students, staff and school communities as academic activities resume across the country.

The Minister urged parents and guardians to remain calm, rely on official information and proceed with preparations for their children and wards to return to their respective schools on Monday as scheduled.

He also directed school authorities to maintain close coordination with security agencies and other relevant authorities to ensure an orderly and secure resumption.

Alausa called on students, parents, teachers, administrators and other stakeholders to work together to maintain a peaceful and supportive learning environment.

He stressed that safeguarding students and ensuring their wellbeing was a shared responsibility requiring cooperation among schools, families, government agencies and communities.

The Federal Ministry of Education, he said, would continue to monitor developments and work with relevant authorities to take necessary measures to ensure the safe continuation of academic activities in all Federal Unity Colleges.

The Minister reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s education system and ensuring that children have access to quality education in a safe and conducive environment.

He said the commitment was consistent with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which places education and human capital development at the centre of Nigeria’s sustainable growth and national development.

The ministry therefore assured students, parents, guardians, teachers and the general public that all necessary arrangements were in place for a safe, peaceful and successful resumption across the nation’s Federal Unity Colleges.
