Enugu Police, Army nab two armed robbers, recover stolen tricycle

Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command, working with a detachment of the Nigerian Army stationed at Awgu, have arrested two suspected armed robbers and recovered a tricycle reportedly snatched in the area.

According to a statement by the Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, the arrest followed a report received on 9th March 2026 at about 4:00 p.m., indicating that a tricycle had been forcefully taken from its male rider along New Garriki, Enugu, by a two-man gang.

The suspects allegedly attacked the victim with an offensive weapon before fleeing with the vehicle.

The joint Police and Army team acted promptly, tracing the suspects to their location. They were identified as Ejike Emewa, 21, and Njoku Christian Chigbo, 21. The stolen tricycle was recovered, and the suspects are set to be arraigned in court upon completion of investigations.

Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, commended the effective collaboration between the Police and the Army, emphasizing the Command’s ongoing commitment to eliminating criminal activities in Enugu State.
