The Executive Assistant to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde on Security Coordination, Kabiru Salami, has resigned from his position with immediate effect, adding to the recent departures from the governor’s administration.
Salami announced his resignation in a letter dated October 20, 2026, addressed to Makinde through the Chief of Staff.
In the letter, the outgoing aide expressed appreciation to the governor for the opportunity to serve in his administration, describing the experience as an honour and a humbling privilege.
He reaffirmed his commitment to the peace, security and progress of Oyo State despite his decision to step down from the position.
Although Salami did not state a reason for his resignation in the details provided, his departure comes amid a series of changes involving key officials in Makinde’s administration and political circle.
One of the notable exits was that of Segun Ogunwuyi, who resigned as Chief of Staff to the governor with effect from October 12, 2026.
The governor subsequently appointed Bashorun Akinwale Akinwole, popularly known as Wolekanle, to replace Ogunwuyi.

Another departure was that of Tara Adefope, who stepped down as Director-General of the Oyo State Due Process Office.
Following Adefope’s exit, Makinde appointed Aderonke Adedayo to head the office while retaining her position as Senior Adviser on General Intervention and Donor Agencies.
Salami’s resignation further adds to the recent personnel changes within the Oyo State Government, although no official explanation has been provided linking the departures.
The latest development comes as the Makinde administration continues to adjust key appointments across its leadership structure.
