The Vice Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Rabi’u Kwankwaso, has urged the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, to withdraw from the 2027 presidential race and support the NDC.
Kwankwaso made the appeal on Thursday while receiving members of the Fulani Farmers Association at his residence in Abuja.
He called on the former Vice President to step down from the presidential contest, promising that Atiku would be accommodated if the NDC emerges victorious in the 2027 election.
“Step down for us; if we win, we will take care of you,” Kwankwaso said.
The development comes amid renewed efforts by opposition politicians to forge a common front against President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general election.

Atiku remains one of the major opposition figures seeking the presidency in 2027 and has been involved in ongoing efforts to build a broader opposition coalition.
Kwankwaso and NDC presidential candidate Peter Obi were previously associated with the ADC before moving to the NDC in May, citing internal disagreements and legal disputes within the party.
Kwankwaso’s latest appeal to Atiku adds a fresh dimension to the ongoing realignment among opposition figures as political parties and presidential hopefuls position themselves ahead of the 2027 elections.
