The Nigeria Customs Service Board (NCSB) has confirmed the appointment of one Deputy Comptroller-General of Customs and five Assistant Comptroller-Generals of Customs, while reviewing the Service’s N4.30 trillion revenue collection as of June 2026.
The decisions were taken at the Board’s 65th Regular Meeting held on September 2, 2026, and chaired by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Professor Taiwo Oyedele.
According to a statement issued by the National Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Abdullahi Maiwada, on Sunday, the appointments followed the statutory retirement of some members of the Service and were made in accordance with the Federal Character Policy under Section 14(4) of the Nigeria Customs Service Act, 2023.
The newly confirmed Deputy Comptroller-General is Constantine Dim from the South-East.
The confirmed Assistant Comptroller-Generals are Pascal Chibuoke and Ethelbert Nnaji, both from the South-East; Sani Yahaya from the North-Central; and Franklin Onyeka and Chibuzor Eyakwaire from the South-South.
The Board reviewed the Service’s revenue performance against an annual target of N11.074 trillion.
As of the end of June 2026, collections stood at N4.30 trillion, representing 36.4 per cent of the annual target.
The Board noted that the Service had intensified revenue mobilisation through the full deployment of the Unified Customs Management System, known as B’Odogwu, expanded post-clearance and real-time audit, the Authorised Economic Operator and advance ruling programmes, and the deployment of geospatial technology.
It also highlighted joint border patrols and deeper engagement with the trading community as part of efforts to improve revenue collection and trade facilitation.
The Board approved the upgrade of the NCS Medical Corp to a Sub-department headed by an Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs and assisted by nine Comptrollers.
It was also briefed on the ongoing recruitment exercise, with successful candidates invited for documentation, physical and medical screening scheduled to commence on September 7, 2026.
On disciplinary matters, the Board deliberated on several appeals and resolved accordingly, with outcomes including dismissal, exoneration, warning, compulsory retirement and reinstatement of affected officers.
Based on the report of the Technical and Operations Committee, the Board approved the Nigeria Customs Service De-Minimis Regulation, 2025, to align it with the provisions of the Nigeria Customs Service Act, 2023.

The Board also received updates on ICT digital transformation initiatives, including progress across trade systems, human resources automation, NII infrastructure and digital applications.
It further noted an invitation from the Federal Ministry of Finance for memoranda proposing amendments to the Nigeria Customs Service Act for possible inclusion in the 2027 Finance Bill.
The Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, on behalf of the Board, congratulated the newly appointed management members and reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to accountability, institutional strengthening and sustained revenue mobilisation.
