The Lagos State Government has announced the temporary closure of Oke-Afa Bridge in Isolo Local Government Area for three weeks to allow for rehabilitation works.

The Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, disclosed this on Monday, saying the rehabilitation would commence on Friday, August 28, and end on Friday, September 18, 2026.

According to him, the rehabilitation will be carried out in two phases to minimise disruption to traffic and ensure the bridge is restored to good condition.

The first phase will cover the outbound Isolo-to-Ejigbo axis from Friday, August 28, to Friday, September 11, while the second phase will cover the inbound Ejigbo-to-Isolo axis from Saturday, September 12, to Friday, September 18.

Osiyemi said the bridge would be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic during the rehabilitation, with motorists advised to follow designated traffic diversions.

During the first phase, motorists travelling from Isolo towards Ejigbo will be diverted onto the Isolo-bound carriageway from Pako Roundabout, where traffic will operate in both directions before rejoining the main carriageway at Mobil Filling Station.

Motorists coming from Ejigbo will maintain movement on the shared carriageway from Mobil Filling Station to Pako Roundabout before regaining full access to the road.

For the second phase, motorists travelling from Ejigbo towards Isolo will be diverted onto the Ejigbo-bound carriageway from Mobil Filling Station, with traffic moving in both directions before rejoining the main carriageway at Pako Roundabout.

Similarly, motorists coming from Isolo will share the carriageway with Isolo-bound traffic between Pako Roundabout and Mobil Filling Station before returning to the main carriageway.

The commissioner said the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) would deploy personnel to the area to manage traffic and minimise delays throughout the rehabilitation period.

He added that an emergency tow vehicle would also be stationed within the axis to provide prompt recovery services for vehicles that break down during the works.

Osiyemi urged motorists to remain patient and cooperate with traffic management officials, stressing that the temporary closure was necessary to facilitate the rehabilitation.

He said the works were being undertaken by the Federal Ministry of Works through the Office of the Federal Controller, Lagos, as part of efforts to improve the condition and safety of Oke-Afa Bridge.
