The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), on Thursday continued his sustained drive to promote environmental cleanliness and public safety as he embarked on a routine environmental inspection and enforcement exercise across key parts of the local government area.
The inspection exercise covered Under Bridge Ikeja, Awolowo Way, and Computer Village, areas known for high commercial activity and heavy human traffic.

The initiative, according to the Council, underscores the Chairman’s continued commitment to ensuring a clean, orderly, and safe environment for both residents and business owners within Ikeja.
Speaking during the exercise, Chairman AKOD reiterated that maintaining a clean environment is essential to public health, safety, and economic productivity.
He stressed that the ongoing sanitation and enforcement efforts align with the vision of the I.K.E.J.A Agenda, which is focused on creating an enabling environment where businesses can thrive while residents enjoy improved quality of life.

He further noted that environmental discipline remains a shared responsibility, urging traders, commuters, and residents to support government efforts in sustaining cleanliness and orderliness across the local government.

The enforcement operation featured officials of the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), personnel of the Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency (LASPARK), supervisory councillors, and staff of the Ikeja Local Government Environmental Department.

The team was led by the Head of Department, Sanitarian Omotayo, alongside other key officials of Ikeja House.
The exercise forms part of ongoing measures by the local government to enforce environmental regulations, reduce indiscriminate waste disposal, and improve the overall aesthetics of the council area.
“God Bless Ikeja. Better Days Are Here,” the statement concluded.
