Coinage Fund Management Ltd (“Coinage Fund”), an Africa-focused investment management firm, has received approval from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Nigeria to operate as a Fund/Portfolio Manager, marking a major milestone in its drive to expand access to professional wealth management services across Nigeria and Africa.

The regulatory approval authorises the company to provide tailored investment and portfolio management solutions to a wide range of clients, including high-net-worth individuals, mass affluent investors, emerging investors, institutions, and corporate organisations.

The company said the approval strengthens its mission to democratise access to professional investment advisory services and help reshape the future of wealth management in the region.

Coinage Fund enters the market at a time when the need for structured investment management continues to grow, especially as many individuals and institutions struggle with underutilised capital and limited access to trusted financial advisory platforms.

Speaking on the development, the Chairman of the Board, Dr. Victor Gbenga Afolabi, said the firm is positioned to address the challenge of poor capital deployment and limited access to credible investment expertise.

“Too many individuals and businesses leave capital idle or poorly managed due to limited access to the right expertise. We are here to change that,” he said.

Also commenting, the Chief Executive Officer of the company, Mr. Biodun Oke, described the SEC approval as both a validation of the company’s long-term vision and a strategic launchpad for future growth.

“At Coinage Fund Management Ltd, we are building Nigeria’s next generation of wealth and retirement future.

We are committed to helping our clients achieve financial security, retirement readiness and sustainable wealth creation through ethical management practices, informed decision-making and a long-term investment philosophy,” Oke said.

According to the company, its investment model is built on disciplined asset management, technology-enabled insights, and a strong focus on client outcomes.

It also said it distinguishes itself through robust corporate governance, strict regulatory compliance, and a client-first operating model, supported by a team with over 50 years of combined industry experience.

Coinage Fund noted that beyond portfolio performance, it is committed to improving financial literacy through investor education, thought leadership, and advisory services aimed at helping Nigerians achieve long-term financial independence.

The company added that the SEC approval reinforces its credibility and signals its readiness to partner with both individuals and institutions seeking structured pathways to sustainable wealth creation in an increasingly complex financial environment.

As full operations begin, Coinage Fund said its priority remains unlocking value, optimising capital, and delivering sustainable financial outcomes for its clients.
