The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to enhanced inter-agency collaboration following a historic visit to the National Headquarters of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Abuja.

The visit, described as the first of its kind, was aimed at strengthening the working relationship between the police and the NSCDC as part of efforts to bolster Nigeria’s internal security framework.
Addressing the Commandant General of the Corps, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, and senior officers, Disu said the engagement was a deliberate step toward deepening cooperation between the two agencies, which share the responsibility of safeguarding lives and property.

“We must encourage one another as we confront contemporary security challenges. We often fight difficult battles in demanding terrains; therefore, we must share intelligence and operate as a unified front to achieve lasting peace,” the IGP stated.
In his response, Audi assured the police chief of the NSCDC’s continued commitment to synergy, noting that the Corps has maintained a long history of collaboration with the police and remains ready to strengthen such ties in response to evolving security demands.

He identified collaboration, cooperation, and coordination as key pillars for the success of conventional security agencies, while also calling on citizens to play a more active role in intelligence gathering and information sharing.

The Commandant General urged Nigerians to adopt a proactive approach to security, drawing parallels with international models where civilian participation supports law enforcement efforts.
The visit featured a symbolic exchange of souvenirs and a group photograph session involving top management of the NSCDC and the IGP’s delegation, which included the Federal Capital Territory Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Mohammed Sanusi, and the Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Placid.
