The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) have reaffirmed their commitment to intensified collaboration in combating narcotics trafficking along Nigeria’s maritime corridor.

This followed a courtesy visit by the newly appointed Commander of NDLEA, Tincan Strategic Command, Solomon Gbadebo Omotosho, to the Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) Area Command of the NCS in Lagos.

Leading his delegation, Omotosho said the visit was aimed at formally introducing himself and strengthening operational synergy between both agencies in the fight against illicit drug movements through the nation’s ports.

Receiving the team, Acting Customs Area Controller, Bolaji Lukman Adigun, described the engagement as timely, noting that port environments remain critical frontlines in preventing the movement of illegal substances.

He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to strict enforcement measures while ensuring the seamless facilitation of legitimate trade activities.

Adigun emphasised that sustained intelligence sharing, coordinated cargo profiling, and joint examination procedures are essential to improving operational efficiency and dismantling drug trafficking networks.

In his remarks, Omotosho stressed the importance of seamless communication and proactive intelligence exchange, noting that closer cooperation between NDLEA and Customs would yield measurable results in curbing narcotics trafficking.

He added that the NDLEA remains dedicated to working closely with the NCS to disrupt illicit drug networks and strengthen national security.
