The National Association of Maritime Transport Operators (NAMTOP) has announced the resolution of its two-year leadership crisis, restoring unity among its twenty affiliated unions and associations.
In a statement on Tuesday, NAMTOP said the umbrella body representing truck owners and operators across Nigeria is now fully reconciled and ready to continue advocating for the welfare and development of its members and the broader maritime transport sector.

As part of the renewed structure, the Lagos State Trucks and Cargo Operators’ Committee (LASTCOC) has invited all twenty affiliate groups to a Congress scheduled for April 20, 2026, at Rickview Hotel, Apapa, Lagos, where a report of its stewardship will be presented.
Pending the formal inaugural meeting of the reunited body, NAMTOP appointed five interim representatives to coordinate operations and serve as official signatories for communications:
Hon. Adeyinka Aroyewun – COMTUA
Alh. Lookman Shittu – General Cargo
Mr. Moshood Adisa – LPAN
Mr. Wale Oladeinde – NARTO
Alh. Issa Babatunde – COTOAN
“This interim arrangement ensures seamless communication and organisation as NAMTOP moves forward in unity,” the statement said.
NAMTOP urged government agencies, regulatory bodies, industry partners, and the public to take note of the development, stressing that the association is now poised to strengthen efficiency, representation, and advocacy within Nigeria’s maritime transport sector.
