Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has urged Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, saying it would be a “disservice” to reverse the policies and reforms of the current administration.
Abbas made the statement on Wednesday when he received the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, led by its National Coordinator, Comrade Sunday Adekanbi Asuku, during a courtesy visit to his office.
The Speaker said the campaign for Tinubu’s second term should be driven by facts and figures, arguing that the administration had recorded sufficient achievements since assuming office in 2023 to justify its re-election bid.
He said the All Progressives Congress (APC) would have substantial evidence to present to Nigerians during the campaign, adding that the government’s performance across the 36 states should form the basis of the re-election campaign.
“I am glad that in your speech, you mentioned the approach and the methodology of your campaign, to make it differ from what it used to be in the past, where people made noise with no substance,” Abbas said.
“This is a campaign that should be guided by facts and figures. Let people see and feel what the government has accomplished in the past three years.”
The Speaker said the campaign should be anchored on wisdom, issues, maturity and verifiable performance.
He argued that changing government after only four years could undermine the sacrifices Nigerians had made in response to the economic and other reforms introduced by the Tinubu administration.
According to Abbas, Nigeria could not correct the problems accumulated over several decades within a single four-year presidential term.
“There is no establishment at the national level that is closer to the grassroots than the House of Representatives. The parliament remains a major pillar of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the current administration,” he said.
Abbas said the House would continue to enlighten Nigerians on what he described as the importance of continuity, while urging supporters to base their campaign on the administration’s policies and achievements.
“So, it will be a very terrible mistake for Nigerians to reverse the modest gains that we have recorded from 2023 to date,” he said.
Earlier, Asuku said the visit was organised at the instance of High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, the founder and grand patron of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement.
He commended Abbas for supporting the inauguration of the movement, describing the House under his leadership as one of the strongest in recent times.

Asuku said the group comprised supporters of President Tinubu and was committed to mobilising nationwide support for the President ahead of the 2027 election.
He said the movement was targeting at least 10 million votes for Tinubu through its grassroots mobilisation campaign.
According to him, the group was not seeking to establish a parallel campaign structure to the APC but intended to work with party leaders and other stakeholders.
“This Movement will stop at nothing until we can galvanise nothing less than 10 million votes from our own angle,” Asuku said.
He added that the group would continue its mobilisation efforts because it believed the Tinubu administration had performed well.
