The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has claimed that President Bola Tinubu will relocate Nigeria’s capital from Abuja to Lagos if he wins the 2027 presidential election.

Ayodele made the claim in a video shared on X while speaking about Tinubu’s bid for a second term under the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to the cleric, a Tinubu re-election would lead to major changes in Lagos, including the relocation of the country’s capital to the state.

“Lagos architecture will change. You may not see this one very seriously, but if Tinubu wins the second time, the capital of Nigeria will be relocated to Lagos,” Ayodele said.

He added that the capital could be located in any part of Lagos State, including Epe or Lekki.

“When this happens, the capital can be in Epe or Lekki or anywhere at all in Lagos,” he said.

Tinubu is seeking re-election in the 2027 presidential election under the APC, with political activities ahead of the poll already intensifying.

Nigeria’s capital was officially moved from Lagos to Abuja in December 1991 under the military administration of Ibrahim Babangida. Abuja has remained the Federal Capital Territory and seat of the Federal Government since then.

Ayodele’s statement represents a prediction and has not been accompanied by any announcement from the Presidency or the Federal Government indicating plans to relocate the national capital.
